Manuel Ugarte has passed his Man United medical with official announcement later on Thursday

Uruguay international Manuel Ugarte has passed his Manchester United medical, reports Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

Following weeks of negotiations, news finally broke on Tuesday that United and Paris Saint-Germain had reached a deal for the 23-year-old midfielder’s signature.

It’s estimated that United will pay £42 million for the player, plus an additional £8 million in add-ons.

PSG included a 10% sell-on clause in the agreement to bring the combative Ugarte to Old Trafford.

On Wednesday morning, The Peoples Person reported that Ugarte traveled from Paris to Manchester for his medical before agreeing to terms with the Red Devils.

Now, Plettitenberg has provided an update, stating that Ugarte passed his exam and everything is finalized, barring an official announcement from United.

He wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “DONE DEAL | Manuel Ugarte has successfully passed his medical with Manchester United.”

“Announcement probably today, Thursday.”

“23 y/o Ugarte, new defensive midfielder of Man United.”

“News confirmed. Jorge Mendes did it. Saga is over.”

Ugarte effectively becomes United’s fifth signing of the transfer window, following the acquisitions of Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

All through the summer, he was mentioned as United’s primary target and now, the Reds finally have their man in place.

For PSG, Ugarte made 37 appearances, including 25 in France’s top flight as they won their 12th Ligue 1 title. Unfortunately for him, he fell down the pecking order under Luis Enrique, who demonstrated a clear preference for other players in the middle of the park.
