Star prepared to sign for Man United after talks over £98,000 a week deal – Journalist

Mario Hermoso is the name Manchester United is considering when they search for a left-footed defender, while Luke Shaw is now sidelined due to injury.

Maximo de la Cruz, a journalist for El Sevillista, has disclosed that the Red Devils have discussed a deal of £98,000 per week, or six million euros per season, for the Spaniard to come on a free transfer.

The Italian journalist told GMS:

“In terms of left-footed player to add in defence, there are still some some opportunities. They spoke to the agents of Mario Hermoso, but at the moment, still nothing advanced. He’s still available as a free agent. So, Mario Hermoso would love to go to Manchester United”.

The 5-capped La Roja defender was an important member of the Atletico Madrid squad that won the La Liga title back in 2020-21 under Diego Simeone.

Moreover, even last season, he made 31 appearances in the league, but the Rojiblancos did not extend his stay at the club after the expiry of the contract this summer.

The 29-year-old has got ample experience under his belt but in our view, Man Utd must not secure his signing.

Hermoso is left footed, yes, but he is naturally a center back and throughout his career, he has rarely featured in the left back role.

Man Utd have already signed two center backs this summer in the form of Yoro and De Ligt. Not to forget, they handed another deal to veteran, Evans.

With the likes of Maguire, Lindelof and Martinez there as well, Ten Hag already has a cavalry in the central defense.

Last season, in the absence of Shaw and Malacia, United used Amrabat, a natural DM, and Lindelof, a natural CB, in the LB role and that must not be repeated this term
