Erik ten Hag is apparently looking to add a new left-back, and Manchester United is the front-runner to sign Miguel Gutierrez in the summer.

Manchester United is supposedly ahead of their competitors in the race for Miguel Gutierrez, according to Fichajes.

Real Madrid is one of the teams showing a lot of interest in the Girona full-back, but Erik ten Hag might be able to secure his man.

In order to focus on keeping his left-back fresh for the entire season, Erik ten Hag may choose to bring in a new player who can cover all the bases.

Manchester United are interested in Miguel Gutierrez and is currently favourites to land the 22-year-old full-back from La Liga club Girona.

Gutierrez had a fantastic season with Girona and has plenty of interest from elsewhere.

However, the Red Devils are currently considered front runners, as they will have to negotiate through discussions with Girona over their fee demands for the 22-year-old full-back.

Girona will ask for a considerable fee, given that Real Madrid hold a 50% sell-on clause in Gutierrez’s contract. Hence, Manchester Untied, should they make their interest concrete, must offer a big enough fee for Girona to consider, as there is certainly big interest from the Red Devils.

There have been reports stating that Real Madrid are still considering Gutierrez as an alternative to Alphonso Davies.

Still, so far, they have yet to give enough hits about any possible pursuit. However, they do have the upper hand given the 50% sell-on clause they have rights over, meaning they could sign him for half of what Girona would want for the 22-year-old.

Hence, Manchester United must hope Real Madrid walks away from this particular pursuit, as the Red Devils will have no chance should Florentino Perez decide to bring Gutierrez back to the club.
