Man United eye fresh Raphael Varane replacement as agreement ‘revealed’ for £25M-rated Chelsea defender

Chelsea centre-back Trevoh Chalobah has reportedly emerged as a target for Manchester United to replace Raphael Varane.

The 24-year-old could be heading towards the exit door at Chelsea following the news that a deal has been agreed for Tosin Adarabioyo to join on a free transfer.

Adarabioyo, who spent four seasons at Fulham, opted against renewing his contract at Craven Cottage.

United, meanwhile, had also been linked with a move for Adarabioyo as a replacement for Varane – who will leave this summer when his contract expires. After missing out, The Guardian claims United’s focus has turned to Chalobah.

It is reported that he is now a target and could be available for a £25million fee. Chalobah, who came through Chelsea’s ranks, became a regular at the end of the season but after Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi were signed last summer, his minutes have been limited.

Monaco director Thiago Scuro has said that the club would be open to selling Fofana and revealed that £26m (€30m) could get a deal over the line.

“He is probably one of the players that we are open to selling this summer,” Scuro said. “We will see the opportunities that he has.”

Now the player himself, has suggested that Monaco may even go as far as to facilitate his departure.

During a press-conference ahead of the Euro 2024, he said: “My future? I have spoken about it with the hierarchy, it isn’t a secret. We had exchanges and they agreed to accompany me in this new stage.

“If it (a move) doesn’t happen, I still have a year left and I will be happy to stay. We were in agreement that we would accompany each other in this process in which everyone should be a winner, be it me or the club.
