Following Diogo Dalot’s performance against Real Sociedad in the Europa League on Thursday night, Manchester United supporters made their feelings about him quite apparent.
Manchester United punched their ticket to the tournament’s knockout stages, while the Red Devils advanced out of the Europa League’s league round format.
The opening leg of Ruben Amorim’s team’s round-of-16 Europa League matchup against La Liga team Real Sociedad took place at the Reale Arena in Spain.

This season’s Europa League represents the 40-year-old United manager’s final opportunity to win significant hardware at Old Trafford in the 2024–25 season.
Ruben Amorim’s side could also secure Champions League football for the 2025-26 season if the Red Devils can lift the Europa League trophy.
The Red Devils’ hopes of securing European football for next season took a major hit last Sunday after United lost to Fulham on penalties in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Man Utd fans react to Diogo Dalot’s performance vs Real Sociedad
Diogo Dalot started as the right wing-back against Real Sociedad and the 25-year-old Manchester United right-back caught the eye of club supporters with his display.
United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, ruthlessly slammed Dalot and pulled no punches with their criticism towards the defender.
Red Devils supporters were critical of the United star’s crossing ability as a wing-back and were far from convinced over his ability to play in the role on the pitch.
“Dalot loses any sense when he’s close to the box,” one fan said.
Someone else added: “Dalot has no vision and his football IQ seems very low… he makes some criminal decisions on the pitch.”
“Diogo Dalot putting in one of the all-time worse performances ever tonight, and by God, he’s had some bad ones before,” another tweeted.
While a fourth wrote: “Dalot. Can’t defend Can’t cross.”
“Dalot is absolutely dreadful, one of the biggest problems at the club, he needs shipping out ASAP,” someone else claimed.
A sixth X user wrote: “I keep saying it: Dalot has a low football IQ. Even an average player knows that you just need to square that ball one time for a simple tap-in.”
And a seventh posted: “Dogu crosses first time there, no fuss. The polar opposite of Dalot.”
