Tyrell Malacia speaks out on shock PSV move in pointed message to Man Utd
Tyrell Malacia says he is “happy to be here” and “finally playing good football again” after completing his loan transfer from Manchester United to PSV.
Since joining Old Trafford from Feyenoord in 2022, the 25-year-old has struggled with injuries, making just 47 appearances for the Red Devils across all competitions.
The Dutchman has returned to play this season, although it is obvious that Ruben Amorim does not have him in his plans. He missed the entire 2023–24 season due to a significant knee injury.
Despite playing out of position, Diogo Dalot has been favored at left wing-back, while Patrick Dorgu, a specialist in that position, has recently been bought from Lecce.
Malacia has returned to the Eredivisie till the end of the season and is delighted to be with the table-toppers PSV, making his feelings clear on his unveiling on Tuesday.
‘I’m happy to be here. Finally playing good football again,’ Malacia told PSV club media. ‘I am coming off a long injury, but by now I am fit and know that my time will come again.
‘In every tough period there are also positive elements and in this case that is that I have become much stronger physically and mentally. I have more patience, am more mature, know my body better and things like that. I’m ready to pop and hopefully win several prizes with PSV.’
Earnest Stewart, PSV’s Director of Football Affairs, added: ‘We are very happy to welcome with Tyrell a player who can be of immediate value for PSV 1.
‘Tyrell has a lot of experience at the highest level and is also a player with a lot of potential. We look forward to seeing him in action.’
Malacia has not arrived in time to play against his former club Feyenoord in the cup on Wednesday night, but can be involved against Willem II on Saturday.
The Red Devils talked up the success of Peter Bosz’s side this season in their confirmation of Malacia’s move.
A club statement read: ‘PSV, who play their home games at Philips Stadion, are currently top of the Dutch first division by a margin of two points.
‘They are also preparing for a Champions League play-off against Juventus, after finishing 14th in the competition’s new league phase.
‘Notably, the PSV squad features former Premier League players Ivan Perisic and veteran striker Luuk de Jong
