Man United are already “exploring” £33m summer transfer for “explosive” sporting Star
According to the latest from the British press, Manchester United have already started exploring a deal to secure a much-needed £33 million deal for an “explosive” star.
Manchester United remain in search of creative reinforcements as Rúben Amorim’s side continue to struggle for goals.
United’s lack of cutting edge has been a recurring issue this season, with the team frequently failing to score more than once per game. Their underwhelming performances at Old Trafford have only added to growing concerns.
This month, the club have loaned out several first-team forwards, with Antony joining Real Betis, Marcus Rashford moving to Aston Villa, and Ethan Wheatley heading to Walsall for the remainder of the season.
However, United chose not to replace any of them, with their only January arrivals being defensive additions—left-back Patrick Dorgu from Lecce and centre-back Ayden Heaven from Arsenal.
United exploring £33m Quenda transfer
One reason as to why United are lacking creativity is that Amorim’s formation relies on their wing-backs to be forward-focused, and Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui have failed to properly execute the instructions.
With Dorgu set to challenge for a place on the left, United are now looking to see who they could add to the right hand side.
According to The Athletic, United are already exploring to bring “explosive” Sporting winger Geovany Quenda to Old Trafford in the summer.
As Quenda is 17, regulations preventing Premier League clubs from signing players aged under 18 stopped any attempt from United to sign the player in January, but with his 18th birthday in April, the club will be able to sign him from 1 July.
The report states that a deal for the Portuguese winger, who played as a right wing-back under Amorim with great success, is expected to cost around £33 million.
Quenda fits the mould of United’s signings
The club’s two signings under Amorim so far – Dorgu and Heaven – are part of a new strategy to buy young stars with high potential that can be moulded into the players Amorim needs at the club.
The head coach has been keen to point out when he can that he wants not to sign specialist players for his positions, but those with the right characters to succeed.
When Dorgu was announced, technical director Jason Wilcox was keen to point out that it was the characteristics the 20-year-old shows as a player that persuaded United to land his signature.
“Patrick is a really exciting talent; his strong defensive and attacking attributes, adaptability and work-rate will make him a key part of Ruben Amorim’s squad,” Wilcox explained last week.
Quenda also fits into this mould. Amorim already knows that the young winger has the talents to succeed in his squad, having played Quenda on 18 occasions before his move to United
