Man United transfer news LIVE: Great news for fans as Man United confirm second and third signing on deadline transfer day, deal signed and sealed

Manchester United have confirmed the arrival of Sergio Reguilon on a season-long loan deal from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Red Devils started their search for a new left-back last week after Luke Shaw suffered a worrying muscular problem.

Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella was the initial favourite to join the club, but they switched their focus to Reguilon yesterday.

United have now confirmed the Spaniard’s temporary move until June 2024.

Reguilon told the club’s official website: “In life you have to be ready for everything and the chance to represent this great club with such an illustrious history is one that I could not turn down.”

“Having spoken to the manager, I know what he needs from me, and I am ready to play my part in helping the team to achieve success.”

“I know that I can contribute to Manchester United this season; I am ready to fight for this group and show everyone my qualities.”

Man Utd fill left-back void after injury crisis
United suffered an injury crisis last week after Shaw joined Tyrell Malacia on the sidelines.

This forced manager Erik ten Hag to play right-back Diogo Dalot from a makeshift role. The Portuguese had a mixed performance against Nottingham Forest. Reguilon should replace him on Sunday.

The Spaniard started off his Premier League career in brilliant fashion for Spurs and was an early fan favourite. However, his performances dipped before he become out-of-favour with them.

Reguilon now has the chance to redeem himself at United. The club have a break clause for January, but the former Real Madrid man has the opportunity to prove his worth to earn a long-term deal.

United face Arsenal in Sunday’s Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium. Having already trained with the club, Reguilon could make his debut from the starting line-up against the Gunners.

Reguilon becomes United’s second signing on transfer deadline day. There will be another in the coming hours with the club having agreed to land Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat on loan.

Amrabat has been touted to join United since the beginning of July. The club have finalised a loan deal worth €10 million with an option to buy for €20m. The deal could rise to €25m with add-ons.
