Manchester United return to action as they host Brighton & Hove Albion in their first game back since the international break.

Since their 3-1 defeat in dramatic fashion at the Emirates at the start of the month, a lot has changed regarding the United squad.

Erik ten Hag and Jadon Sancho have had a falling out which resulted in the winger being banished from the first-team squad.

In a statement on Thursday afternoon, United announced he would remain on a personal training programme, pending resolution of a squad discipline issue.

United will also be missing Antony, whose return has no timeline, while the Brazilian takes a leave of absence amid an investigation into assault allegations.

Their options for Saturday’s Premier League match at home to Brighton & Hove Albion are potentially looking light.

Manchester United injury updates
Rasmus Hojlund looks set to be available for his full debut up front after a short but bright cameo off the bench against Arsenal before the international break.

Mason Mount is still suffering from his hamstring injury and the United boss has said that he will not be back in time for Saturday’s match.

Amad Diallo is another potential option for the right wing position but he is also set to miss out due to an ongoing knee problem.

Ten Hag told MUTV on Friday that new loan signing Sofyan Amrabat is also not fit to play: “Amrabat, he came back unfortunately with the injury, so he will not be available for tomorrow [Saturday], but I think, on the short notice [soon], yes. And I’m sure we will all get joy from them.”

Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are both still injured which means the other new loan signing Sergio Reguilon could make a start at left-back.

When asked about the centre-back partnership for the weekend, Ten Hag said both Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez are fit to face Brighton but Raphael Varane is unavailable.

Lisandro Martinez came off against Arsenal in the second half with a knock but did travel to Argentina for international duty although he didn’t play any minutes for the world champions.

Manchester United starting XI prediction vs. Brighton

United signed Reguilon to combat the left-back injuries to Shaw and Malacia so he is expected to start, especially considering Diogo Dalot played 180 minutes for Portugal.

The other big question is who will play on the right of United’s front three. While many fans would love to see Facundo Pellistri, Ten Hag has opted against using the Uruguayan even in games of less importance in the past.

Predicted Man United XI (4-3-3): Andre Onana — Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez, Sergio Reguilon — Christian Eriksen, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes — Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho.

As for Brighton… despite scoring a hat-trick against Newcastle last time out, Evan Ferguson struggled with a slight knock during the international break and it’s unclear as to whether he will be fit enough to start for the Seagulls.

Predicted Brighton XI (4-2-3-1): Bart Verbruggen — Joel Veltman, Jan Paul van Hecke, Lewis Dunk, Pervis Estupinan — Billy Gilmour, Pascal Gross — Kaoru Mitoma, Joao Pedro, Solly March —Evan Ferguson.
