Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano delivers key update on Man United’s interest in Victor Osimhen
In the summer, Manchester United will try to bolster their striker corps as the team is having trouble scoring goals.
Ever since he took over as manager of Manchester United in November of last year, Ruben Amorim has faced several challenges.
During his four months at Old Trafford, Amorim has had difficulty adjusting his system to fit the present team.
With just five Premier League goals between Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee after 25 games, the team’s inability to score goals is currently their main problem.
The inability of the two front-runners to ensure goals has resulted in Chido Obi perhaps being promoted from the Academy system.
However, Amorim will be aiming to sign a senior solution to their goalscoring problem when the summer comes around.
Fabrizio Romano’s key update on United’s interest in Osimhen
United have already been linked to several options who could help provide quality up front at Old Trafford.
One of those players is Nigerian international Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan from Napoli at Turkish side Galatasaray.
So far this season, Osimhen has 19 goals and five assists in 24 appearances which follows on from three impressive campaigns in Italy beforehand – scoring 66 goals across that period.
The 26-year-old would be an ideal option for Amorim. He does not only suit the head coach’s preferred style, but has the ability to score goals from so many different types of situations.
Speaking on his YouTube channel this week, Fabrizio Romano has clarified that United have not yet made a move for Osimhen or any other striker.
He said: “Several clubs are looking for strikers, including Man United, but at this point, they have not reached out to the Osimhen camp or Napoli.
“They are monitoring several strikers but it is still too early to see who is going to be the new striker for Man United.”
It has been claimed that the striker has a release clause around £62 million which can be activated in the summer
