Another key offensive player for the Texas Longhorns has decided to go pro in the aftermath of the team’s elimination from the College Football Playoff.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported on Monday that Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden will declare for the 2024 NFL Draft.

The junior is being projected to as a possible Day 2 selection and decided to forego another season in Austin. Spending the first two years of his collegiate career at Houston, Golden transferred to Texas ahead of the 2024 campaign and made a big impact during his lone season in Austin.

He caught two touchdown passes right out the gate during the season-opener against Colorado State and remained consistent throughout the year, ultimately leading the Longhorns in receiving with 58 receptions for 987 yards and nine TD’s.

The Houston native shined brightest for UT during the postseason, hauling in eight receptions for 162 yards in the SEC Championship Game against Georgia and pulling seven targets for 149 yards and a TD in the CFP quarterfinals against Arizona State.

Golden literally saved Texas’ season in the latter contest as he caught the 28-yard score on 4th and 13 to send the game into double overtime. Averaging 95 yards per game over his last six contests, his late-season performances certainly elevated his draft profile and he was most recently ranked as the No.
