TEAM NEWS: Great news for fans as Man United receive double injury boost ahead of Crystal Palace game

Man United play Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night and two key players are set to return from injury.

Mason Mount and Harry Maguire are set to be available for Manchester United’s game against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.

Mount has not played for United since picking up a hamstring injury in the 2-0 defeat against Tottenham last month and he was absent from the squad to face Burnley at the weekend, despite returning to full training earlier in the week.

The midfielder was given more time and he’s now expected to be available for selection against Palace on Tuesday night.

Harry Maguire could also make his first start of the season for United after missing out against Burnley due to injury.

The centre-back did not travel with the squad to Turf Moor but he took part in full training ahead of the Palace clash.

Maguire has been demoted in the centre-back pecking order over the last 18 months but he could start against Palace.

With Raphael Varane only just returning from his own injury, Erik ten Hag started Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans against Burnley and the Northern Irishman received plaudits for his assist for Bruno Fernandes’ matchwinner.

Mount signed for United from Chelsea for an initial £55million this summer and although his two appearances have seen him play in a deeper midfield role, he could play on the right wing when he makes his return to action.

Antony and Jadon Sancho are currently unavailable and Mount played on the right for Chelsea.

“Also this has been discussed before,” Ten Hag recently said of a possible positional switch for Mount, “but we have options on the right and we will see how we fill it in.

“We have the options but also they have to be available and then you have to get the routines in. But the principles and rules – they are clear.”
