Man Utd receive huge transfer boost as ‘generational’ target poses with club merch ahead of possible January transfer

Sverre Nypan, a reported target for Manchester United, has been caught on camera posing with one of the team’s calendars, strengthening rumors that he might make a dream move to Old Trafford.

United may start a bid as early as January and are said to be the top bidders for the 17-year-old wonderkid’s signing.

Days after the Red Devils’ 3-2 Europa League victory over winners Bodo/Glimt, the Norwegian season came to a conclusion earlier this month. Nypan’s eight goals and seven midfield assists enabled Rosenborg finish fourth, in the European positions.

He has registered 13 goals and 11 assists in 60 senior appearances since breaking through from the academy, catching the eye of heavyweight admirers.

Nypan featured for a far more match-fit Rosenborg in their 1-0 victory against United at the start of the Premier League giants’ pre-season this summer.

The Norway Under-21 international is widely considered his country’s next elite export after Martin Odegaard and Erling Haaland.

And he is a known United supporter, naturally birthing suggestions that he could land at Old Trafford in the coming years.

As part of Rosenborg’s Secret Santa, one of Nypan’s team-mates gifted him a club calendar, likely playing up to the transfer rumours.

A YouTube video showed Nypan grinning as he lifted up his 2025 calendar with Andre Onana, Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford on the cover.

The quintet could be his team-mates soon enough if the speculation becomes reality and Ruben Amorim opts to add him to his rebuild.

One experienced Norwegian scout has described Nypan, who will celebrate his 18th birthday later this week, as “generational.”

They told Mail Sport: “Nypan is a truly generational talent. If he continues to play like this, it’s very likely he’ll move within a year.”

Nypan has made no secret of his desire to join United should the opportunity arise in the future, while Real Madrid reportedly also represent a dream destination.

“It would obviously be a dream come true to play for Manchester United,” Nypan told the United Norway Podcast.

“I’m aware United has shown some interest, but I’m quite adamant that I don’t want to open that door yet. I want to focus on Rosenborg and not think too far ahead.”

Whether Nypan would fit into Amorim’s preferred 3-4-3 system remains to be seen, with the Portuguese tactician requiring immediate upgrades at the dawn of his rebuild.

The teenager may fit in as the more advanced central midfielder or as one of the inside forwards behind the striker, but for now, the prospect of a United arrival is only a fantasy.
