Man United now trying to sign £55m star who’s already agreed terms with Arsenal after Cunha deal, Mikel Arteta should be worried
Despite Manchester United’s failure to qualify for European football next season, they’re still making signings that Arsenal will be envious of.
Man United have already confirmed the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, a Brazilian who Arsenal were trying to sign in January.
Arsenal were seriously keen on Cunha, but the versatile forward will now start a new era in Manchester after Ruben Amorim’s side were prepared to meet his release clause.
And now if Arsenal aren’t careful, United might potentially beat them to another signing this summer.
Despite Arsenal agreeing terms with Viktor Gyokeres at Sporting CP, it seems as if United are considering a late move of their own.
Man United in contact to sign Viktor Gyokeres despite Arsenal agreement
According to GiveMeSport, United have now made contact to find out if a deal for Viktor Gyokeres will be possible this summer.
Amorim obviously worked with Gyokeres at Sporting and he certainly knows how to get the best out of the Sweden international.
When it comes to comparing what Gyokeres could offer United next season in comparison to Rasmus Hojlund, it’s night and day.
Of course, that ability is why Arsenal are so keen to sign Gyokeres, who might cost £55m, a striker who scored 54 goals in 52 games last season.
Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta loves Gyokeres’ talent, a player he’s been pushing ever since he arrived in north London.
From the outside looking in, it somewhat appears that Mikel Arteta might prefer Benjamin Sesko at RB Leipzig, a player the Gunners have tried to sign in the past.
Sesko has ‘universal backing’ at Arsenal, and perhaps some United fans will now be hoping that their old rivals opt for the Slovenian.
Arsenal should be on red alert to steal Bryan Mbeumo deal
Of course, when it comes to United and Arsenal overlapping in the transfer market this summer, both clubs are also big fans of Bryan Mbeumo.
Unfortunately for Arteta, Mbeumo wants to join United this summer.
However, United have failed with a bid for Mbeumo, and Arsenal should be on red alert, even if the Frenchman has expressed a desire to head to Old Trafford.
Mbeumo would be an excellent signing for any top English side, and Arsenal definitely have the financial muscle to compete with United, especially if they are dithering on Brentford’s asking price.
It should be an exciting summer for both clubs, and it will be fascinating to see where Gyokeres ends up, a player who still has a point to prove in England
