Man United handed major Viktor Gyokeres transfer boost as new £58.6m ‘agreement’ reached

Viktor Gyokeres is available to Manchester United for a fraction of the cost they had believed would be necessary.

After being signed up by Ruben Amorim from Coventry City, the Sporting striker continued to improve.

He is averaging more than a goal per game this season and has scored an incredible 74 goals in just 79 games for the Portuguese team.

It seemed inevitable that the Reds would be linked to Amorim’s services given United’s difficulties in the center-forward position and their strong bond with Gyokeres.

A move in January seems to be out of the question presently as many clubs, including United, battle to stay the right side of the Financial Fair Play (FFP) restrictions.

Sporting will also be reluctant to sell Gyokeres in the middle of the season when it could massively impact their title push and Champions League hopes. As such, a switch in the summer is set to be more realistic for all parties.

Now, United have been handed an incentive to wait that long. According to Record Portugal, Gyokeres and Sporting have a gentleman’s agreement to allow the striker to leave the club for as little as between £58.6m and £62.8m.

Such an agreement has been hinted at in the past between Gyokeres and Sporting. Previously, it has been stated that Gyokeres would be allowed a move for less than his £83m release clause should he remain at the club until the end of the season.

Amorim has previously gone on record to insist that he would not be signing any players from Sporting in the January transfer window
