Man United are interested in AFC Bournemouth sensational 20-year-old left-back this summer

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing AFC Bournemouth’s 20-year-old left-back Milos Kerkez.

Regular left-back Luke Shaw has had horrendous luck with injuries with the England international only playing 12 games all season and none since February.

Back-up left-back Tyrell Malacia did not get onto the pitch at all as he spent the entire year on the treatment table.

As a result, Players’ Player of the Year, Diogo Dalot, had to fill in at left-back after Sergio Reguilon’s loan spell was terminated in January.

Erik ten Hag was also forced to use Sofyan Amrabat, Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to try and plug the gap at various points in the season.

Whilst not judged as a big priority as compared to requirements at centre back or striker, Fabrizio Romano has previously reported that United will definitely try and recruit a left back to challenge Luke Shaw’s long-term place in the team.

TalkSPORT report that Kerkez might just be that option.

“United have identified the 20-year-old as a potential option to provide competition and cover for Luke Shaw.”

It seems the United tax will very much be in play as “it is thought that Bournemouth will demand a high fee for Kerkez”, who they only signed last summer from AZ Alkmaar.

The Hungarian made 33 appearances in all competitions this season with the Cherries impressing on their way to a 12th place finish in the Premier League with the player called up by Hungary as part of their Euro 2024 squad.

The young left-back has been incredibly impressive in his debut season in England and United had taken notice as far back as February when they were scouting the youngster and were said to be “big fans”.

As expected, United are not the only big team who have noticed his talents with Chelsea also said to be keen on the Hungarian.

The full-back has been described as “one of Europe’s most exciting young talents”.

He is “remarkably proficient in attacking areas” but is a complete modern-day full-back as he also has “strong positional” sense defensively.

If United can get him for a sensible fee and have enough money to address other key areas of the squad, the youngster would be a clever choice and would suit United’s current needs perfectly
