Man United agree deal to sign £34m Champions League winner and Real Madrid superstar

The Spanish media has reported that Man Utd has reached an agreement to purchase Girona’s Miguel Gutierrez.

The 22-year-old was a member of Real Madrid’s team that took home the Champions League and La Liga titles two years ago.

Nonetheless, he became well-known with Girona throughout the previous two seasons, particularly during the final campaign managed by Michel.

The youthful player, who currently makes a meager salary of about £280,000 annually, has a contract with the La Liga team that expires in 2027.

This summer, Real Madrid has the option to repurchase the player for a meager 8 million euros (Cadena Ser).

The Express have cited reports in Spain and claimed that the European champions will activate the clause to bring Gutierrez back.

However, they have already agreed a deal worth £34m to sell the left back to Man Utd, who are looking to replace Shaw.

Last season, Gutierrez was not only solid at the back but also made crucial contributions in the attacking third.

He started 35 games in the league, scored 2 goals, provided 7 assists and helped Girona keep 12 clean sheets as they qualified for the UEFA Champions League.

Luke Shaw has been a loyal servant for Man Utd but over the years, he has proved to be highly injury prone.

Even last season under Ten Hag, he only started 12 games in the Premier League and was mainly absent due to muscle concerns.

It is time to replace Shaw and Gutierrez would be a quality replacement. However, the Spaniard will have to give up CL football next term to move to Man
