Manchester United have entered the race for Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich, according to reports.
Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich recorded two wins over Manchester United with the 1-0 win over Erik ten Hag’s men at Old Trafford earlier this month a particularly comfortable occasion.
One player who stood out in the midfield for the German side was Bayern midfielder Joshua Kimmich.
He completed 90% of his passes in the game and won 66% of his ground duels, he truly looked like a dominant force in the midfield against the struggling Red Devils.
Kobbie Mainoo has since come into the team and has looked like one of the leading forces for the Red Devils but a more experienced midfield partner could be targeted next summer.
United keen on Kimmich
According to a report from German outlet Focus.de, the Red Devils are the third team to enter the race for the talented German midfielder, with Barcelona and Liverpool the other sides thought to be interested.
The German midfielder isn’t happy at Bayern with Tuchel believing that a midfield pairing of Kimmich and Leon Goretzka is just not working at this moment in time and one of these two will have to be moved on.
Kimmich looks the more likely of the two who will be leaving the club and United could do with some reinforcements in the engine room, either in January or in the summer.

United In Focus
United have already loaned out Donny Van de Beek to Eintracht Frankfurt this winter and Brazilian Casemiro is currently injured whilst attracting interest from sides in Saudi Arabia.
Kimmich’s contract expires in 2025 so if United did make a move for the German midfielder next summer, they may get him at a decent price.
United have to be careful
When the Red Devils signed Bastian Schweinsteiger back in the summer of 2015, there was palpable excitement when the German midfielder rocked up at Old Trafford.
However, the signing did not work out and the Red Devils have to be careful they don’t repeat the trick if they were to make their move for the 28-year-old Kimmich.
It seems highly unlikely that the midfielder is on the decline at 28 but United have to make sure they do not overpay for the German.
His wages will also be a factor. Signing established players can’t be the ethos anymore. Signing young, hungry, talented and motivated players has to be the target for the incoming Ineos minority ownership
