‘i Lived the dream but I would love to come back to help and play for Man united’ – Watch Fred sends emotional message to Man Utd fans as he confirms transfer exit amid united struggling for form after Burnley win
Fred is on the verge of completing a £12.9million transfer to Turkish giants Fenerbahce, and the midfielder has already waved goodbye to Manchester United supporters
Fred says that he “lived the dream” by playing for Manchester United in an emotional goodbye message to supporters ahead of his imminent exit.
Fred, 30, will sign for Turkish giants Fenerbahce in a transfer deal worth €15million (£12.9m) after United boss Erik ten Hag sanctioned his departure.
The Brazilian midfielder spent five seasons with the Red Devils, having joined from Ukrainian heavyweights Shakhtar Donetsk for £52m in the summer of 2018 during Jose Mourinho’s reign.
United confirmed on Friday that a deal had been agreed, as fans awaited Fred’s parting message.
The 30-year-old took to social media on Saturday to address supporters and wrote alongside a video: “Thanks for everything, Manchester United Football Club.
“Today ends one of the most beautiful stages of my career. I lived the dream of wearing the shirt of one of the biggest clubs in the world.

“Going through ups and downs, I leave with the conviction that I always gave my best during all training sessions and games.
It was five years of a true dream for me and my family. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity. Forever a Red.”
Despite receiving criticism throughout his time at Old Trafford, most fans wish Fred well in Turkey because of his constantly tireless work rate. The Brazil international, capped 32 times by his country and selected for two World Cup campaigns, had entered the final year of his deal with the Red Devils and stayed at home this summer while his team-mates embarked on the club’s pre-season tour.
His last United appearance was in the FA Cup final, as they were beaten 2-1 by bitter rivals Manchester City at Wembley.
That was where Fred won his one and only trophy in English football, lifting the Carabao Cup in February when Ten Hag’s side beat Newcastle in the final.
The ex-Shakhtar star made over 200 appearances for the Red Devils and leaves with his efforts appreciated by club staff.
Fred hinted at an exit following the FA Cup final, admitting that he wanted to play more this season and making it clear that he needed to hold talks with Ten Hag over his role in the side
