Erik Ten Hag warned Man United star ‘needs’ to start vs Brighton as four changes made

Manchester United will be hoping to bounce back from their Arsenal defeat with a win over Brighton this weekend.

Former Manchester United star Paul Parker believes that Facundo Pellistri should start for the Red Devils this weekend as Erik ten Hag’s side take on Brighton at Old Trafford.

The ex-defender is also hopeful of seeing a further three significant changes made as United look to bounce back from their 3-1 defeat at the hands of Arsenal before the international break.

With Antony currently unavailable, questions are being raised about how Ten Hag will set up his side to take on the high-flying Seagulls.

Jadon Sancho’s public falling out with the ex-Ajax boss means that it is unlikely that he will walk straight into the starting eleven, and other alternatives may therefore be explored.

Bruno Fernandes has played on the wing previously and the Portuguese maestro may be pushed into the final third, though Alejandro Garnacho is also capable of switching to the right and could be the most natural tactical switch for Ten Hag to make.

However, Parker believes that Pellistri warrants a start over the Argentina international, telling MyBettingSites.com:

“I would go with Facundo Pellistri over Alejandro Garnacho on the right wing. I think Garnacho has done well when coming off the bench but at this moment I look at him as an impact player.

“I think Pellistri got something about him. He has this willingness and desire to do really well. He makes something out of nothing and he is a workaholic.

If he plays on the right wing in front of (Aaron) Wan Bissaka, I think Man United have a right-hand side of hard-working players who will do very well when Man United doesn’t have the ball.”

Garnacho has failed to impress when he has started games and Pellistri’s directness would benefit new signing Rasmus Hojlund, who could make his first start for United on Saturday as well.

The ex-England international believes that the Denmark international should lead the line at the Theatre of Dreams against Brighton, as well as explaining that Tottenham loanee Sergio Reguilon should replace Diogo Dalot in left-back as it will help get supporters onside.

He continued: “I think he (Reguilon) can be a very good signing and Man United needs a boost in that position. He should definitely start against Brighton because the fans will be fired up a bit. They would like to see something different.”

“That’s why I think Erik ten Hag should start Reguilon, Amrabat and Hojlund. The selection is very important in terms of getting the fans on your side. This is a big game and he needs to give the fans something to cheer about before the game.”
