Confirmed! – Kylian Mbappe receives fresh offer worth three times more than Real Madrid bid amid strong Man United links
Kylian Mbappe has less than six months remaining on his Paris Saint-Germain contract but the French giants have offered him a bumper contract to remain at the club
Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly offered Kylian Mbappe a mouthwatering new contract worth €100million (£86.15m) per season in an attempt to keep him at Parc des Princes.
The 25-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and PSG are not giving up hope of retaining his services. Mbappe has scored 26 goals in 25 appearances this term but is available on a free this summer.
Real Madrid are the frontrunners for Mbappe’s signature and reportedly want wrap up any deal before the end of the January transfer window. Having missed out on Mbappe in 2022, Real president Florentino Perez is determined to get his man this time around.
However, PSG are trying to persuade their star man to sign fresh terms and have offered him a bumper contract worth £86.15m per season, as reported by Diario AS.
This is three times more than Real’s proposal of €30m (£26.84m), which is approaching double of the upper end of their salary structure.
There is uncertainty regarding the bonuses involved in Madrid’s offer, but it is understood that the Spanish giants are not keen to create too much of a gap between Mbappe and the rest of the squad in terms of wages.
Toni Kroos is currently Real’s top earner, while David Alaba, Luka Modric, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr are among the top-five.
As for Mbappe, he is now allowed to speak to non-French clubs over signing a pre-contract agreement but nothing has been agreed yet.
Following the departures of Neymar and Lionel Messi last summer, Mbappe has been an integral part of Luis Enrique’s side this season and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is determined to fend off competition from the likes of Real and Liverpool.
“Look, I am not trying to hide anything. I want Kylian Mbappe to stay at PSG. He’s the best player in the world and the best club for him is PSG,” Al Khelaïfi said on the Rothen s’enflamme RMC podcast earlier this month. “He is central to our project.”
He added: “We have done a lot of things, some have worked more than others. We have made mistakes and this is normal. Now we have a young team, with French players, and we are not in a hurry, this is for the long-term.
“We have put together a team that is solid on a technical level and our system of play has been changed and it is a pleasure to watch this team. We play as a team, we defend as a team, it is magnificent.”
