Chido Obi sends surprise five-word Man United message after Fulham FA Cup heartbreak

Man United youngster Chido Obi has caught the eye for Man United after making his debut at Old Trafford for Ruben Amorim’s team during Sunday’s FA Cup fifth round defeat to Fulham.

Chido Obi has sent a message on social media after Manchester United’s FA Cup defence ended on penalties to Fulham on Sunday.

Ruben Amorim’s side found themselves 1-0 down going into the break after Calvin Bassey put the visitors ahead from a corner. Bruno Fernandes went on to equalise for the Reds with a fine finish before both teams missed good chances to win it in normal time.

Both teams could not be separated across 30 minutes of extra time before Victor Lindelof and Joshua Zirkzee missed in the shootout to send Fulham through. It was the Cottagers’ first victory over United in the FA Cup since 1908.

And Reds debutant Ayden Heaven has sent a message on Instagram. “Despite the unfortunate result, I am glad to have made my debut for one of the biggests clubs in the world!” he said.

In response, Obi commented: “So proud of you mate.” Other players to comment include Toby Collyer, who said: “Nice bro!” While Zirkzee replied with a series of emojis.

Obi has made three appearances for United’s first-team, having been brought in due to the Reds’ injury problems in attack. The 17-year-old has been a prolific goalscorer at youth level, having netted 12 times for United’s U18 side in just nine matches.

The striker has been used as a substitute so far, but there will be calls for him to start future matches. Asked if the youngster could make his first start for the club, Reds boss Amorim kept his cards close to his chest but did not rule it out entirely.
