Chido obi, Mainoo and Maguire to start – Man United Predicted starting XI vs Wolves: confirmed team news and injury latest for Premier League
Ruben Amorim likely to ring the changes after epic extra-time thriller against Lyon in the Europa League
Ruben Amorim is expected to make changes to his Manchester United side at Wolves after Thursday’s dramatic extra-time win over Lyon in the Europa League.
Amorim has said he will rest players “who are at risk of injury” and has named Diogo Dalot as one player who was “really tired” following the Lyon game
United scored three late goals in extra-time to win 5-4 on the night and 7-6 on aggregate to book a semi-final showdown with Athletic Bilbao.
It would not be a surprise to see several changes with nothing to play for in the Premier League and all attention now focused on winning the Europa League, which would give United direct qualification for next season’s Champions League
Amorim has admitted he will have to take some “risks” with his team selection and has hinted at more chances to come for teenage striker Chido Obi
No Matthijs de Ligt or Ayden Heaven leaves Amorim a little short on centre-backs to rest both Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro, with Jonny Evans now back in training but likely lacking match fitness after a long-term injury.
Mazraoui typically plays as part of the back three under Amorim, but could shift out to wing-back if Dalot needs a rest
Luke Shaw can also play both positions and will be targeting more minutes after giving away a clumsy penalty off the bench on Thursday.
Harry Amass will hope to start again, while Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount and Christian Eriksen will also be expected to do likewise after each coming off the bench against Lyon
Captain Bruno Fernandes could also be due a break, though his desire to play every match is well known.
United remain without Amad Diallo and Lisandro Martinez, while Toby Collyer has also been dealing with a knock of late.
Predicted Manchester United XI: Onana, Lindelof, Yoro, Shaw, Mazraoui, Mainoo, Eriksen, Amass, Mount, Bruno Fernandes, Hojlund
Injured: Martinez, Amad, Zirkzee, De Ligt, Heaven, Collyer
Doubt: Evans
