Marcus Rashford to Arsenal January transfer boost clear as Viktor Gyokeres warning received

Chelsea’s victory over Everton on Saturday added to Arsenal’s anguish as Enzo Maresca’s team pulled four points clear of the Gunners.

With yet another draw, Mikel Arteta’s team was unable to close the gap on Liverpool at the top of the Premier League. Arsenal squandered a huge opportunity when Liverpool and Fulham drew at Anfield.

Chelsea is now only two points behind Liverpool after defeating Brentford 2-1. Luckily for Arteta, Manchester City’s uncharacteristic downturn persisted, putting the Gunners three points ahead of the winners.

There was additional discussion about the necessity for a new striker after the 0-0 draw with Everton. In light of this, football.london has examined the most recent transfer rumors as the January transfer

Rashford boost
Marcus Rashford is a name linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in the past amid his difficult time at Manchester United. Despite seeming to find some form under Ruben Amorim, the forward’s future at Old Trafford is once again in doubt.

The England international was left out of United’s matchday squad for their Manchester derby win, alongside Alejandro Garnacho. Amorim referred to the pair’s absence as them being dropped, sparking doubts over what’s next

Arsenal have been linked with Rashford in the past and uncertainty over his time at United could see them swoop in.

football.london says: “Amorim and United could be offering Rashford on a plate for their rivals. We all know what he can do, when he’s on form, but the various issues off the pitch and inconsistencies on it mean it’s too much of a risk at Arsenal.

“It’s not really a move many got behind when the first reports surfaced and after losing his place in a team sat 13th in the Premier League table, Arteta isn’t expected to be tempted. However, in a dream scenario, he would come and improve Arsenal’s success rate in the final third.

“When at his best, he’s unstoppable. Unfortunately, the Gunners need that guaranteed.”

Alarming Gyokeres warning
Former Premier League striker Troy Deeney has warned Arsenal that signing Viktor Gyokeres may not be the answer to all their problems

The Sporting CP star is one of the many centre-forwards linked with bolstering Arteta’s options in attack, emerging as one of the most sought-after strikers in world football. However, Deeney believes he doesn’t possess a striker’s lethal instinct.

“You know when you say something the clip is going to come back in six months,’ he told talkSPORT. “I genuinely think he’s a good footballer, he works really hard, all of that. But I don’t think he’s a natural finisher.

“And again, everyone is going to pull up his goal record, I get that. But I don’t think he takes either of those two to winning the Premier League. That’s just my opinion, and if he did, they’d have already bought him.”

football.london says: “Much gets made of things Troy Deeney says because he played for Watford. I always find that harsh. The guy scored 47 Premier League goals in 165 games, that’s a decent record.

“And I fear he may be on to something with Gyokeres. In the five games that Sporting have played since Amorim left, the Sweden international as scored just two times – compared to the 11 in six before that.

“Signing a player from the Portuguese league would come with its risk and there’s no guarantee of success. Arsenal need someone to score the goals now, like Alexander Isak.”
