DEAL AGREED: Man United ‘agree’ deal as Erik ten Hag ‘identifies’ new £21.4m striker target

Manchester United are now preparing for a clash with Nottingham Forest as they look to get back to winning ways.

Leonardo chase
United are said to be readying an offer for Santos striker Marcos Leonardo.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Ten Hag wants more depth up top, and he senses a bargain, with Santos wanting around £21.4million for the forward. Leonardo was said to be close to a move to AS Roma in early August, but a deal fell through.

In 32 appearances last season, the 20-year-old scored 16 times and assisted four. United will be keen to add competition for Rasmus Hojlund amid a likely exit for Anthony Martial.

Evans deal

United are said to be closing in on a new contract for defender Jonny Evans.

According to The Telegraph, Evans is set to get a one-year deal at Old Trafford after doing enough to impress during his short-term pre-season contract.

The centre-back returned to United to train over the course of the summer after leaving Leicester City at the end of his contract there, with the Foxes suffering relegation.

Evans is now 35 years of age, and it’s likely he will be used as emergency back-up at the centre-back position, but he has proven he can keep up with consistent perormances for Leicester over recent years.
