I will join Man United on one condition – Angel Gomes sends clear Man United message as star set for exciting return

Former Manchester United midfielder Angel Gomes, who recently has been linked with a return transfer, responded to a current member of the club

Amid persistent transfer rumors that link defender Leny Yoro to a return to Old Trafford, former Reds midfielder Angel Gomes has voiced his happiness at seeing the player back in training for Manchester United.

Although he comes with a ton of pre-existing rumors to act upon or ignore, it is unclear how new manager Ruben Amorim will perceive the transfer market and what specific alterations are required in this Manchester United team.

Among the rumors circulating are Gomes’ prospects at Lille and a potential comeback to Old Trafford.

After rising through the academy’s ranks from the age of six, the 24-year-old was once viewed as a future star at Manchester United and went on to become the first player born after the turn of the century to play for the team.

“There’ll always be that sentimental soft spot, so of course it’d be difficult to say no,” the attacking midfielder recently said about returning, but added:

“As amazing as it would be, after finding happiness abroad, I know [playing in the Premier League] is not the be-all and end-all.”

But with the window closed and no transfer activity taking place right now, interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy is preparing his side for two more matches ahead of the upcoming international break – tonight’s Europa League clash with PAOK and a weekend Premier League meeting with Leicester City.

A welcome sight in training this week has been the return of £52m summer signing Yoro, who never actually got to make his competitive debut before Erik ten Hag’s recent dismissal due to a metatarsal injury he sustained during pre-season.

The club posted the above image of the 18-year-old taking part in team training, smiling and laughing with his new team-mates after such a difficult start to his career in England.

And spotted amongst the raft of current Man United players in the comment section was Gomes, who spent two of his four years at Lille as team-mates with Yoro. The Red Devils’ academy graduate wrote the message: “He’s back!!!”
