£83m sporting CP striker with 43-goals already being lined up for Man United transfer -Report

Former Sporting CP coach Amorim is being considered by Man United as Erik ten Hag’s replacement. Less than twenty-four hours after the team’s 2-1 Premier League loss to West Ham, the Reds announced earlier in the day that Ten Hag was leaving.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Amorim has accepted in principle to take over as United’s manager going forward. The clubs are now negotiating a compensation.

As soon as Amorim takes charge, rumors will focus on possible transfer targets in anticipation of the January transfer window.

Reports that Amorim may bring some of his soon-to-be former Sporting players to United will also probably result from it.

Viktor Gyokeres has been heavily linked with a move away from Sporting in recent years, with Arsenal reportedly interested last summer and January earlier this year.

Gyokeres scored 43 goals in 50 appearances for Sporting last season and already has 14 in as many games this term for the Portuguese club. The striker, who signed for Sporting in 2023 from Coventry City, is reported to have a €100million (£83.4million) release clause in his contract.

United may find it a challenge to pay such a fee for Gyokeres without first raising funds by sanctioning the exits of some players at Old Trafford.

If that were to happen either in January or next summer, it would not be a surprise to see Amorim seek a reunion with Gyokeres at some point in 2025 as a priority when it comes to incoming deals
