Transfer news: £40m Bayern superstar and Man Utd target drops Major transfer hint as player arrives Manchester to push transfer completion

Manchester United are believed to have been monitoring Benjamin Pavard closely this summer but the Bayern Munich defender now looks like he’ll be plying his trade for Inter Milan next term

Benjamin Pavard is a man in demand this summer with a whole host of top clubs across the continent keen on landing his signature and prying him away from Bayern Munich.

There have certainly been Premier League outfits keeping tabs on his situation as he looks increasingly likely to head for the Allianz Arena exit door.

Arsenal and Chelsea have both been linked with a move for the Frenchman, but it is Manchester United who were the English side that were believed to be most interested in Pavard’s services.

However, any hope those at the top of the United hierarchy may have had when it came to signing the 27-year-old have taken a significant dent as it now looks as if Inter Milan is the most likely destination for Pavard this summer.

The man himself has done little to quell the rumours and speculation regarding his club future, with Pavard’s recent social media activity raising some eyebrows.

The Bayern Munich defender was spotted among the ‘likes’ section on Inter’s post previewing their Saturday night fixture at home to Monza.

United boss Erik ten Hag was pressed for comment on whether he’d look to bring in any new players before the deadline on September 1 following Saturday’s 2-0 defeat by Tottenham, but the Dutchman hardly cleared anything up with his response.

“It’s not about adding to the team, we have to score goals,” Ten Hag said. United have already spent big on a striker, with Rasmus Hojlund arriving for an eye-watering fee of £72m.

In truth, United’s back-line is probably one of the last areas of the squad in which they need to strengthen. Their midfield has given Ten Hag the most headaches early on this term, with unconvincing performances against both Wolves and Spurs.

Both Fiorentina ace Sofyan Amrabat and Everton star Amadou Onana have been touted with moves to the red half of Manchester, but it is far more likely that United prioritise one over the other rather than try to sign both
