Man United keep faith in Mason Mount following strong interest in €120m Bayern Munich superstar -Reports

Manchester United appear to retain their faith in struggling midfielder Mason Mount despite Jamal Musiala emerging as a potential transfer target.

Jamal Musiala was linked to Manchester United last year after rumors circulated about the winger’s discontent at Bayern Munich.

It was thought that his purported annoyance stemmed from the firing of Julian Nagelsmann, the manager of Bayern Munich, whom he had backed.

Although communication between Musiala and United quickly broke off, it resurfaced in April of this year with a report suggesting that United had entered the race for the €120 million-rated Musiala. Once again, these rumors proved to be untrue.

It seems that those who were hoping for a Musiala deal will now have to settle for less as the team tries to give one of its failing players a chance to establish himself at Old Trafford.

According to reports from CaughtOffside, Man United still have faith in midfielder Mason Mount and his ability to be a success at the club despite his slow start to life since joining in the summer of 2023.

“Manchester United reportedly believe that there is still hope for Mason Mount to turn things around and deliver for the club after the £55m they invested in him just over a year ago, even amid stories about Jamal Musiala being a possible transfer target,” the report read.

“Mount shone during his time at Chelsea, but it just hasn’t happened for him at United so far, with fans likely to be losing patience with the England international after his injury problems and lack of impact on the pitch.

Still, it seems the feeling inside Old Trafford is that Mount can still come good for Erik ten Hag’s side, so it will be interesting to see what he can produce for the team in the season ahead.”

“In fairness, even if Mount can get back to something like his best form, many fans will feel Musiala is the bigger natural talent with a higher ceiling anyway,” the article continued.

Mount’s debut season at Old Trafford was one to forget, given his repeated injury setbacks. In fact, he was restricted to just 20 appearances for United in all competitions last season, managing just one goal and one assist.

Despite Mount’s difficult start to life at United, manager Erik ten Hag still appears to exhibit faith in the player, hoping that he will be an important player for the club over the long term.

“Erik ten Hag is really supporting Mason Mount. On a daily basis, Erik ten Hag is talking to the player is trusting the player; he wants to give him some time to come back in the best way possible, not to have any injury problems any more and to give him the opportunity to play on a regular basis, to be consistent and to be back at his level, at Mason Mount’s level,” Fabrizio Romano claimed.
