DONE DEAL! – Liverpool outbid Chelsea and break their record transfer fee to sign £110m Brighton midfield maestro to partner McAlister who just arrived London with ‘Medicals to be completed in the next 12 hours’
The fee is understood to be worth £110m, with Moises Caicedo set to travel to Liverpool on Friday for a medical; Brighton signed Caicedo for £4.5m from Independiente del Valle in 2021
The transfer saga surrounding Moises Caicedo appears to be stepping up.
The Brighton midfielder is wanted by Chelsea and it has been claimed that his next move could finally be resolved in the near future.
Caicedo is a long-term target for the Blues, who are said to be ‘pushing’ to get a deal over the line prior to the club’s opening game against Liverpool on Sunday
However, Jurgen Klopp’s side have also entered the race for the Ecuadorian’s signature, with journalist Fabrizio Romano reporting that Brighton are expecting a formal bid from the Reds by Friday. The south coast club will sell to the highest bidder
It is said that Moises Caicedo is currently waiting in London as the two clubs battle it out for the 21-year-old’s signature.
Chelsea’s Romeo Lavia bid explained
Chelsea’s £48million offer including add-ons for Romeo Lavia has no bearing on any potential deals to sign Moises Caicedo and Tyler Adams, football.london understands.
The Blues placed a £48million (plus add-ons) offer to Southampton for Lavia on Wednesday evening. However, that bid is £2million below the Saints’ £50million asking price – something Liverpool have been told in recent weeks after seeing three offers for the 19-year-old turned down by the south coast club.
Liverpool’s latest offer is believed to be around £46million, so a couple of million less than what Chelsea have proposed. Despite Chelsea’s offer, Liverpool are still expected to arrive with a fresh bid for Lavia – one that will surely match Southampton’s £50million price tag.
