Crystal Palace set huge Marc Guehi asking price for Man United transfer as swap deal proposed

England and Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi shone in England’s Euro 2024 opener against Serbia on Friday and the Eagles have now made a call on his future amid expected transfer interest

Crystal Palace will demand in excess of £65m for star defender Marc Guehi this summer.

Since making the £18 million move to Selhurst Park three years ago, the former Chelsea player has excelled for the Eagles.

Guehi has made an international impression for England thanks to his performance.

Against Serbia in the Three Lions’ opening Euro 2024 match, the 23-year-old was outstanding.

Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal are among the teams that have shown early interest in signing him. Palace, meanwhile, won’t budge on Guehi’s future.

The Telegraph claims that they will only sign him for at least £65 million if he indicates a wish to depart.

Guehi has two years left on his contract and Palace are optimistic about keeping him, having also opened early talks regarding a new deal. Manchester United have reportedly hatched a plan to sign him though.

Reports suggest that they want to send former Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka the other way in a potential swap deal. In the meantime, Guehi’s England colleagues have been full of praise for him during Euro 2024.

Speaking after Friday’s game with Serbia, Jude Bellingham said: “He was brilliant. Brilliant. He picked the lines amazingly.

He led against two, for me, really good centre-forwards at this level in [Dusan] Vlahovic and [Aleksandar] Mitrovic, two really, really tricky customers.

It will help a lot when he has [John] Stones beside him, one of the best around. He was fantastic.”

Gareth Southgate also saved special praise for Guehi. He said: “I saw the player that plays every week for his club. Positionally sound and calm.

“Tonight was an even bigger test because, stature-wise, he’s not one of the biggest centre-backs going to be a lot of aerial balls in the box. He dealt with that really well.

“He transferred what he does with his club onto the biggest stage. He showed what a good player he is.”
