Man United ‘present an offer’ to sign £51m Sporting Lisbon star regardless of Ten Hag’s future
Manchester United will soon ‘present an offer’ to sign Sporting Lisbon defender Goncalo Inacio, according to Portuguese publication O Jogo.
The Red Devils are likely to reinforce their central defensive department with Raphael Varane set to leave the club on a free transfer on July 1.
A right-footed centre-back is the prime priority for United, but Fabrizio Romano revealed yesterday that they are also eyeing a left-footed option.
Inacio was highlighted as a target by Romano. O Jogo add to this by claiming that United will soon submit a proposal to sign the 22-year-old.
The Red Devils have earmarked the Portuguese ace as a summer objective regardless of what happens with the future of manager Erik ten Hag.
United could sign Inacio on a cut-price deal
United were recently linked with an approach for Sporting’s Ousmane Diomande.
It was claimed that the Red Devils could sign him for £38 million as the Portuguese club need a big-money sale before June 30.
Diomande had a good first half to the season with the Lisbon giants, but he was far from his best during the back end of the campaign.
The Red Devils will have tracked his performances. In our view, they have probably decided to pursue a deal for Inacio due to this reason.
Inacio currently has a £51 million release clause in his deal, but United will be optimistic of signing him for less due to Sporting’s financial issues.
The Portuguese is a quality ball-playing defender with a good aerial presence. He likes to clear his lines and has very good concentration.
Inacio is represented by the same agent as Bruno Fernandes in Miguel Pinho which should boost United’s chances of landing his signature
