Man United receive huge boost as race for £80m ‘assist king’ and premier league superstar is now on

Manchester United have reportedly been boosted by the news Wolverhampton Wanderers would be willing to sell Pedro Neto for the right price this summer.

The 23-year-old has begun to flourish in the West Midlands this season having been shown faith by manager Gary O’Neil.

Becoming an ‘assist king’, Neto has racked up his tally to ten in all competitions and has impressed pundits with his pace.

While Wolves would ideally want to keep him, they could have little option but to sell should they wish to give O’Neil money to spend in the summer.

According to The Sun, O’Neil and co. have resigned themselves to losing the Portuguese talent and the race is now on as to which club he will join.

Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and United are all thought to be weighing up a move for the forward, who is out of contract in 2027.

The Reds’ interest in Neto makes sense considering how short the club is in the front line, particularly with Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood expected to depart.

Elsewhere, Calciomercato reports United and Borussia Dortmund are stepping up their pursuit of Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini.

The 20-year-old centre-back is earning himself quite a reputation in Italy after becoming a key player for the Serie A club.

Scalvini has made 27 appearances so far this season and already has seven Italian international caps to his name.

The defender has previously spoken about moving to the Premier League at some stage and this dream could become a reality in the summer.

Atalanta are understood to have put a £34m price tag on their talented defender which United are reportedly willing to match.

The Reds are likely aiming to sign a defender at the end of the season considering the uncertainty surrounding Raphael Varane’s future.
