Manchester United reportedly look set to repeat their Casemiro transfer tactic this summer as Erik ten Hag eyes further recruits.

The Dutchman has overhauled United’s midfield since becoming manager last year, recruiting four in his three transfer windows so far.

Christian Eriksen joined as a free agent in July 2022, and a disastrous start to the campaign saw £70m sent to Real Madrid for Casemiro late in the window.

Ten Hag added Marcel Sabitzer to his ranks in January in response to Eriksen’s spell on the sidelines at the start of the year, but his short loan hasn’t been made permanent.

And with United open to offers for Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van Beek, the club could dip back into the transfer market to bolster Ten Hag’s engine room with Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat.

According to Sky Germany, United have open talks for the signing of Amrabat, though a deal isn’t currently considered advanced.

Bayern Munich are also said to be interested in the 26-year-old’s signature, but a concrete approach hasn’t yet been made over a month into the transfer window.

The report adds that United are monitoring his situation closely and could launch a pursuit later in the summer, similar to their tactic for Ten Hag’s No 18.

Any further incomings beyond Mount and Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana – for whom United remain in talks – will likely rely on player sales.

United are reportedly ready to launch a £50m assault for Atalanta starlet Rasmus Hojlund, but the Serie A outfit could demand more.

Harry Maguire, Dean Henderson and Anthony Elanga join McTominay, Fred and Van de Beek in the shop window.
