Jamie Redknapp shares the four changes Marcus Rashford has made at Aston Villa that held him back at Man United as he proves Amorim wrong

Marcus Rashford already looks like a man reborn in an Aston Villa shirt and that was especially evident in his game-changing performance in the hosts’ late 2-1 win against Chelsea at Villa Park.

Rashford, who came off the bench initially assisted Marco Asensio’s opener.

In the 89th minute, the Manchester United loanee did the same as his cross was put in the back of the net by Asensio after the ball was spilled by Filip Jorgensen to cap off a match-winning performance from Rashford.

Marcus Rashford provided a much-needed spark to Aston Villa’s attack, as he has done in his recent outings against Tottenham Hotspur, Ipswich Town and Liverpool.

Rashford was “excited” about moving to Aston Villa to get his career back on track and so far, he has done just that since working under Unai Emery.

While Jadon Sancho continues to struggle at Chelsea, his fellow loanee is a man in form currently.

Against Enzo Maresca’s side, Rashford reminded the world of why he millions across the world have always believed in his talent as the England international was direct, productive and a nuisace for his full-back Malo Gusto to tame.

Monchi believed Unai Emery could revive Rashford’s career and the Spanish tactician seems to be doing just that up until now.

Jamie Redknapp claimed that the reason why Rashford is thriving in an Aston Villa shirt is because he looks like he is “loving every second” of playing for them, working hard, being “involved” and “showing enthusiasm.”

Redknapp said on Sky Sports: “Yeah, it’s just incredible, this is exactly what he needed to do. He just needed to get back playing. How do I explain?

When you’re a footballer, you are doing the best job in the world. Of course, I’m biased but there’s everyone in that Holt End who would give anything to be running down that wing and attacking a full-back at pace like this and you have got to enjoy it and if you can’t enjoy playing football, you are in the wrong sport.”

“And that’s how he looked for such a long time. Right now, he looks like he’s loving every second of it. He’s involved, he’s showing enthusiasm, all the things that were thrown at him at Manchester United, he’s now doing the opposite.

“And he’s got sweat on his face and he’s not jogging around, looking around like, ‘I don’t really want to be here.’ But he looks like he wants to be in that claret and blue shirt, now whatever happened at Man United has happened now, you’ve almost got to park that to one side.”

“From Aston Villa’s perspective, everyone would have been looking at him, thinking, ‘Shall we take him? Is it a big enough risk? What’s he like? Is he a good lad? Is he going to come in and upset the dressing room?’

He obviously hasn’t and he’s made a massive impact in the team already, you couldn’t have asked for more if you were a manager and there will be a lot of people out there thinking, ‘Wish I would’ve taken him.’ He’s been excellent so far.”

Unai Emery always felt Rashford was one of the best in the world
At Manchester United, on the other hand, Rashford seemed to be suffering a crisis of confidence.

Ruben Amorim no longer fancied the 27-year-old, whose performances had tailed off since last season.

But Unai Emery always felt Rashford was top-class and one of the best players in the world — a vote of confidence that might be the secret behind his excellent displays at Villa.

Reputed journalist David Ornstein revealed: “Maybe their priorities lay elsewhere. Maybe for whatever reason, having seen him not playing at Manchester United, they didn’t immediately say, ‘Oh, come and play for Aston Villa.’ But Unai Emery loves Marcus Rashford as a player.”

“He believes, whether we like it or no that Rashford is one of the best in world football and that he is the perfect coach to bring him back to his top level. And therefore, they will see this being a successful partnership in the Premier League, in the Champions League, and maybe beyond, hence the 40 million pound buy-option. With all of that in mind, I don’t think Manchester United envisage him being part of their future.”

Rashford and Emery’s hit it off from their very first meeting and he looks ready to prove both Ruben Amorim and Manchester United wrong after deeming him surplus to requirements
