Transfer expert drops huge transfer update on £70m-rated PSG Star amid Man United & Arsenal interest

The PSG star Xavi Simons looks set to remain in the Bundesliga going into the 2024/25 campaign.

The only question that remains is this: Which German outfit will the Dutch international join this summer? Bayern Munich or fellow favourites RB Leipzig.

There’s not thought to be much separating the two outfits in their bid to land the forward in this summer window.

“Désiré Doué and Xavi Simons’ situations are somewhat connected as far as Bayern Munich’s transfer window is concerned,” Christian Falk wrote in his exclusive Fact Files column for CaughtOffside.

“In the case of Simons, it’s a neck-and-neck race between Bayern and Leipzig. One day it’s said that Leipzig is ahead. The next day Bayern believe they are leading the race. The fact is: the deal is easier for Leipzig to make with Simon’s club, PSG, because they are only looking for a loan. Bayern want at least an option to buy.

“The fact that FC Bayern are taking Leipzig’s chances very seriously is shown by the fact that they are bidding heavily for Doué. One thing is clear for Bayern: the question is: Simons or Doué? The club will not sign both players. They have to decide: There only can be one!”

The PSG man has enjoyed a somewhat positive summer of football, registering three goal contributions to power Ronald Koeman’s side to the Euros semi-final.

A 2-1 defeat, courtesy of Gareth Southgate’s England, however, ended any hopes of orange ribbons on the Henri Delaunay Trophy.

Simons scored a tally of 25 goal contributions in 43 games (across all competitions) for loan outfit Leipzig.

Whilst the prospect of Premier League football has to be considered tantalising for much of Europe’s elite footballers, one could hardly blame the 21-year-old for looking to keep the good times going in Germany.
