Thomas Tuchel has revealed how he will get the best out of Mason Mount at Man United

In the event that Erik ten Hag is sacked at Manchester United and the German manager is reunited with a former teammate, Thomas Tuchel, the former manager of Chelsea and Bayern Munich, is a strong candidate to succeed him.

As the heat mounts on Erik ten Hag, the German has once again been linked to a move to United.

The Old Trafford manager, formerly of Ajax, is still in control, but his time there may be coming to an end as club executives are scheduled to meet in crisis mode regarding his role.

The Chelsea academy graduate was greatly admired by Tuchel, who frequently complimented him on his optimistic demeanor. Speaking at the time he was the Blues manager, he stated: “This would be too big of a statistic to guarantee you a starting spot.
“But it is something we are aware of and we will not deny that having Mason brings a certain attitude and an aura and a mentality on the field. It is very hard to drop him because even if he has a not so good game, you’ll always get full energy and positivity and a wonderful approach.”

It was not the first time that Tuchel had hailed Mount’s approach to work. He added: “He has the full package, mentally, in terms of talent and physically and the most important part is his character, he has his feet on the ground and he’s a nice guy.

“He comes to Cobham every day to learn something new and have new experiences. He is the guy who can recover very fast, he’s a very physical player and is fully adapted to PL football. He has big self confidence in a very, very positive way.

“It’s a pleasure to have him, be at his side and guide him and support him. It’s impressive, he’s not affected by all the praise. This is maybe the most important part. He seems to be a guy who likes the sport, and feels an obligation to make the most out of it and he wants it absolutely badly, so it’s a top mix”
