Premier League striker Matheus Cunha fires six-word Man United transfer message after £62.5m wolves decision
United were credited with an interest in the Brazilian forward, during the January transfer window, after contract negotiations with Wolves dragged on.
Earlier this month, however, he committed his long-term future to the club, signing a new four-and-a-half-year contract until the summer of 2029.
Cunha has been a stand out performer in Wolves’ battle against relegation this term and has scored 13 goals in 26 appearances across all competitions, so far. He added to his tally by scoring Wolves’ only goal in their 2-1 defeat at Liverpool on Sunday
Despite signing a new deal, speculation over his future remains present as that contract, reportedly, includes a release clause that becomes active at the end of this season. If a move to Old Trafford was to materialise in the summer, Cunha would be reunited with a close friend, Antony, should he stay put, of course
If United were to pursue a deal, with their PSR situation likely to be much clearer at the end of the campaign, The Daily Mail claims the price a club would have to pay this summer is £62.5million
However, United aren’t the only interested side in Cunha’s signature, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Aston Villa all admirers of the 25-year-old. But he’s now focused on helping Wolves maintain their Premier League status
“I think he’s committed with us. The last conversation that we had, he said I will help the team to be in the Premier League next season,” Wolves head coach Vitor Pereira said this month.
“At the end of the season, we’ll see. He’s very committed with us to help the team and our teammates and to help the club.”
