After months of speculation, Liverpool’s interest in Romeo Lavia appears to have taken a fresh twist with claims of a concrete move made on Tuesday.

The Belgian midfielder was reportedly subject to an ‘opening offer’ of £37 million, which was ‘turned down’ swiftly as the relegated club hold out for closer to £50m.

With Liverpool’s alleged first offer for Romeo Lavia on the table, it could be a matter of time before a third signing comes through the entrance doors at Anfield.

Although the offer was rejected, it is believed personal terms will not be an issue. Saints want closer to £50m, and the Reds are expected to return with a revisited package.

Timing is crucial in every deal made, and Southampton fully understand their midfielder’s value to Liverpool. This is down to his experience, age, and most importantly his future status as a Premier League ‘homegrown’ player.
