PERSONAL TERMS AGREED! – Liverpool now in talks to sign ‘world-class’ Man City transfer target as Trent Alexander Arnold alternative

Liverpool are reportedly in talks to sign Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard, with Manchester City also chasing the French international.

According to journalist Christian Falk, the Reds have held discussions with the 27-year-old’s management, with Chelsea, FC Barcelona and City also interested in signing Pavard, who looks increasingly likely to leave Bavaria this summer.

Pep Guardiola’s side have, in recent days, taken a commanding lead in the race to sign Pavard, though.

However, interest from Liverpool could be appealing to the defender, who could become a regular for Jurgen Klopp given his unique traits.

Indeed, Pavard’s ability to play at both centre-back and right-back makes the French international quite the option.

And according to Falk, Liverpool have been in talks with the defender’s team about a potential summer transfer this window.

The journalist said: “He’s an interesting player for the Premier League. Chelsea are always in talks with his management; Liverpool are in talks with his management, Barcelona as well, but Barcelona don’t have the money at the moment. They would like to have him as a free agent next summer.”

Interest in Pavard is high this summer, and with Liverpool in the market to sign cover at both right-back and in central defence, it’s no wonder why the Bundesliga superstar is wanted. And winning the race for the defender could be huge for the Reds.

Lauded as ‘world-class’ by former Bayern manager Niko Kovac, Pavard would be a dream addition for Klopp for the upcoming season.

And whilst interest from City is a worry, Liverpool have the finances and reputation to go toe-to-toe with the reigning English champions
