Mount, Obi to start – Man United predicted starting XI vs Chelsea: Confirmed team news and injury latest for Premier League
Man Utd manager has quite the conundrum on his hands when he takes his side to west London
Ruben Amorim has a decision to make for Manchester United’s visit to Chelsea on Friday.
United take on Tottenham in the Europa League final next Wednesday, and their Portuguese head coach has emphasised the need for all of his squad to be available if they are to cap off a terrible campaign with a trophy.
Before their semi-final second leg against Athletic Bilbao, Amorim decided to field a second-string side in the 4-3 defeat to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium
Captain Bruno Fernandes – so often an ever-present in the United starting XI – was an unused substitute, while Noussair Mazraoui was left out of the matchday squad entirely.
That gave youngsters Tyler Fredericson, Harry Amass, and Chido Obi a chance to impress, but none of the academy trio could stop the Red Devils falling to yet another Premier League defeat.
But now, the entire season hinges on Wednesday’s final, with United sat in 16th in the league table, safe from relegation.
On the injury front, United have a few concerns, particularly at the back.
Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro are the injury worries in the central defensive trident, while Diogo Dalot has not featured since the 1-0 home defeat by Wolves with an ankle issue.
Lisandro Martinez and Ayden Heaven are longer-term absentees, while Joshua Zirkzee will not feature again this season after he suffered a thigh problem last month.
Midfielder Toby Collyer is battling his way back from what Amorim said was “a small issue in his leg”, with the youngster supposedly out for “a few weeks”, according to his manager.
