Mason Greenwood RETURN: Good news for fans as Mason Greenwood Man united return plan set as the loanee prepares for Getafe debut

Man Utd players’ feelings towards Jadon Sancho after latest Erik ten Hag spat
Mason Greenwood will soon return to popular game Football Manager after completing a season-long loan move to Getafe, according to reports.

Greenwood is gearing up to resume his career in Madrid and received a warm welcome from Spanish fans at his unveiling earlier this week.

Jadon Sancho transfer desire emerges after Man Utd set damning asking price
Last month, Manchester United confirmed that the 21-year-old forward wouldn’t be reintegrated into Erik ten Hag’s squad after completing a six-month investigation.

Greenwood was arrested in January 2022 and later charged with attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive control. He denied all allegations.

In February of this year, the Crown Prosecution Service discontinued its case after the ‘withdrawal of key witnesses’, leaving Greenwood free to continue his career.

United reportedly had plans to welcome Greenwood back to the club this season but performed an 11th-hour U-turn amid mass backlash from fans and domestic abuse charities.

But the club insisted they were ‘satisfied’ that Greenwood didn’t commit the crimes he was accused of and vowed to help him rebuild his career elsewhere before loaning him to Getafe

As the former Red Devils No 11 prepares to return to the pitch with the La Liga outfit, he’s also primed to make a comeback in the virtual football world.

According to The Athletic, Football Manager plan to add Greenwood back into the popular game since his suspension is over.

Sports Interactive removed him from the database in February 2022 after his initial arrest but are now gearing up to make him available for Football Manager players once more.

“Players or officials serving indefinite suspensions from football, for any reason, are removed from Football Manager at the first opportunity,” Sports Interactive told The Athletic.

“When suspensions or playing restrictions are lifted, the player or official will be reinstated in-game at the next scheduled update.”

Greenwood scored 35 goals in 129 games after graduating from United’s academy and had interest from the Premier League, Germany, Italy, Turkey and elsewhere in Spain.

He could make his Getafe debut when Osasuna visit the Coliseum Alfonso Perez in La Liga on September 17.

Sports Interactive are yet to announce an official release date for Football Manager 24, but the games usually come out around November.

EA Sports have told The Athletic they will provide an update on Greenwood’s status on EA Sports FC 24 – out later this month – in due course.
