Marcus Rashford’s emotional message to Man Utd stars speaks volumes after derby snub
Despite not being included in the team that defeated Manchester City in Sunday’s derby, Marcus Rashford of Manchester United was quick to post on social media to congratulate their victory.
Marcus Rashford, who was left out of Ruben Amorim’s squad, celebrated Manchester United’s victory in the derby on social media.
The 27-year-old was the most well-known player left out of the matchday squad before Sunday’s crucial match, which United won 2-1 in the end.
But Rashford showed his class in an Instagram post which was shared at the final whistle, with a picture of United’s celebrations on his TV with the message: “Yesssssss! Love it lads,” complete with heart emojis.
In the hours prior to United’s celebrations, Rashford dominated the narrative in the Sky Sports studio after news of his absence broke just before kick-off
Amorim made it clear there was no injury issue affecting Rashford’s availability, nor that of his team-mate, Alejandro Garnacho. He told Sky Sports: “We try to evaluate everything training performance, game performances, engagement with teammates, push their teammates up. Everything is on the line when we analyse and try to choose the players. It is my selection. Simple.”
Amorim added: He added: “I pay attention to everything, the way you eat, the way you put your clothes to go to a game. Everything. I make my evaluation and then I decide
“There is a communication after the last training. They are alright. They had training this morning and I was there. They trained really well.”
Sky Sports pundit and former Manchester United captain Roy Keane then chimed in and said that Rashford would benefit from a fresh start away from Old Trafford.
“A move for Marcus [Rashford] would suit the player – a new challenge for him,” the Irishman said. “He’s been there a long time. When you’re at a big club and your attitude is not right – and it hasn’t been great recently – sometimes it’s good to part ways.”
He also admitted he wasn’t surprised to see Rashford left out, saying: “It is a big call. He [Amorim] has obviously seen something he doesn’t like. But for those who have watched Manchester United recently, it’s not a big surprise because both players have been poor. He has said ‘enough is enough’.
“It’s a big call, but I like to see it – he has put down a marker.”
