Latest Manchester United transfer news as Barcelona admit they are short of players like Marcus Rashford

Barcelona sporting director Deco has freshly admitted that his club are lacking in depth behind wing players Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, amid speculation linking the Spanish champions elect with a move for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.

The Manchester Evening News reported that Barca had weighed up a move for Rashford in the January transfer window after it became clear that he was no longer in Ruben Amorim’s plans.

Barcelona sporting director Deco has freshly admitted that his club are lacking in depth behind wing players Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, amid speculation linking the Spanish champions elect with a move for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.

The Manchester Evening News reported that Barca had weighed up a move for Rashford in the January transfer window after it became clear that he was no longer in Ruben Amorim’s plans.

However, due to their ongoing financial difficulties and their lack of interest in a loan, they did not pursue a deal and the 27-year-old instead completed the short-term switch to Aston Villa from United.

Now, whilst ESPN, who Deco was talking to, say Barca are not expected to make any ‘major’ signings again over the summer window, the sporting director suggested his club is short of players in the Englishman’s role

“Suddenly we feel quite dependent on Raphinha and Lamine. Maybe we need similar players, a solution for them [when they’re not available],” the Portuguese confessed.
