Man Utd tipped to beat Arsenal to Benjamin Sesko transfer due to ‘Major advantage’

Manchester United’s director of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, could prove to be a secret weapon in the club’s pursuit of Benjamin Sesko.

The RB Leipzig striker is hot property across Europe, with the likes of United, Arsenal, Juventus and AC Milan all interested in Sesko.

The 21-year-old has scored 39 goals in 87 games across all competitions since joining Leipzig in 2022 and the Bundesliga side are said to be willing to sell him this summer for a fee of around £75million.

Although United are unable to offer Sesko European football next season, it has been claimed that the player’s relationship with Vivell could help their cause. According to BILD, Vivell helped discover Sesko when he was RB Salzburg’s head of scouting.

Salzburg signed Sesko from Slovenian club Domzale as a 16-year-old prospect in 2019 and it is claimed that Vivell could be a ‘secret weapon’ for United. Vivell is also said to have personally scouted Sesko for United in April.

Despite the club missing out on a spot in the Champions League and the riches that come with that by losing to Tottenham in the Europa League final, chief executive Omar Berrada has insisted United are ready to back Ruben Amorim in the transfer market.

“We speak to Ruben very frequently,” Berrada told TNT Sports earlier this year. “Ruben has a good relationship with Jason Wilcox. They both share the vision of how they want to see the team playing.

Man United emerge as “favourites” to land Outstanding premier league winger and are the “most likely club” to meet his asking price this summer According to reports, Manchester United is now leading the race to acquire Bryan Mbeumo, a forward for Brentford. United had a terrible 2024–25 season, finishing in a barely credible 15th position with just 44 Premier League goals. Ruben Amorim is in dire need of additional offensive firepower, and the Portuguese coach is also looking for reinforcements at number ten. Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers was officially signed by United on Sunday, while Mbeumo is another player who has been highly connected to the team. Mbeumo enjoyed a superb 2024/25 campaign, netting a career-high 20 top-flight goals. He was one of the best attackers in the league and unsurprisingly, he has suitors lining up to lure him away from Brentford. Brentford are resigned to losing the Cameroonian, though manager Thomas Frank made it clear that he won’t come cheap, with the Bees set to demand a significant transfer fee. In addition to United, Arsenal and Newcastle have also been mentioned as admirers of Mbeumo. A recent report covered by The Peoples Person indicated that United are growing confident about their chances of warding off competition for the 25-year-old. The Red Devils have already held talks with the player’s camp and things are progressing well. Now, TEAMtalk report that United are the “favourites” to sign Mbeumo. Newcastle have also had “preliminary negotiations” with Mbeumo’s representatives but Amorim’s side “appear to hold the advantage right now.” On why this is the case, TEAMtalk state, “Newcastle feel Brentford’s £60m valuation of Mbeumo is also on the steep side, feeling a price of £50m is more reflective for a player whose deal currently has just 12 months left to run, not taking into account their 12-month option on the arrangement.” “United, for their part, are not ruling out matching such a fee if it ensures they beat off the competition for his signature, though they would likely now need to sanction at least one big-name sale to ensure they are not in breach of those strict PSR rules.” “Sources have also told TEAMtalk transfer correspondent Fraser Fletcher that United, at this stage in the window, are seen as the side most likely to meet the Bees’ asking price and present a package that the London side will find impossible to refuse.” Whether Newcastle table a bid for Mbeumo is in doubt but United are “steaming ahead” with their pursuit of the forward
