Man United ‘willing’ to pay £38m release clause for wonderkid as Antony price tag revealed

Man United ‘willing’ to pay £38m release clause for wonderkid as Antony price tag revealed
Manchester United are back in Premier League action when they travel to Brentford on Sunday. Fresh off the back of Thursday’s pivotal semi-final first leg 3-0 win over Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League, Ruben Amorim’s side will be aiming to take that form into the top-flight.
United have not won in the league since mid-March when they ran out 3-0 winners at Leicester City. The Reds have since failed to win in five matches, drawing two and losing three games in that sequence.
While United will be keen to record a positive result at the Gtech Community Stadium, Amorim’s squad will also no doubt have one eye on the Europa League semi-final second leg against Athletic Club. With this in mind, it could be a difficult task to get something at Brentford, as Amorim looks to rotate his pack
Mastantuono release clause
United are “prepared” to exercise Franco Mastantuono’s £38million release clause, according to TYC Sports. The 17-year-old has been impressive since breaking into River Plate’s first-team.
Mastantuono made his senior debut in January 2024 and he then became the club’s youngest ever goal-scorer the following month. The teenager has promptly established himself as a firm fixture in the first-team set-up, and made 41 appearances throughout his maiden season.
MEN says: Mastantuono is one of the most talented South American youngsters around, right now, and it’s no surprise that he has been linked with a summer move to Europe. He has been excellent in the Argentine Primera Division and it does feel like an astute piece of business if United can get a deal done.
Would £38million be too much? For a player of his potential and for one that hasn’t played outside of Argentina? Perhaps, but that is the type of money you’ve got to pay now for an elite talent, who also has the potential to be world-class. Should United get into the Champions League, it’s a move that could be worth the risk.
Antony price tag is £34m-£43m
United are hoping to get between £34million and £43million in order to sell Antony this summer, according to El Chiringuito TV
The Brazil star, who has spent the second half of the season on loan at Real Betis, has scored six goals and added four assists in 19 matches since joining the La Liga club.
Although Betis want to sign Antony on a permanent deal at the end of the season, they could be priced out of a move. That is because United want in the region of £34million to £43milllion to sanction his exit.
And as Betis might not be able to afford Antony, fellow La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid are reported to be “in pole position” and it’s claimed that Diego Simeone’s side have “asked” about the 25-year-old.
