Man United Told They Will Have To Match Sporting CP £67M Release Clause If They Want to sign Ugarte Alternative this summer transfer -Report

Sporting CP are unlikely to sell top Manchester United target Morten Hjulmand for anything less than his buyout clause, according to the Correio da Manha (via Sport Witness).

Sporting’s head coach Ruben Amorim reportedly told their board that he does not want to sell the Denmark international this summer, according to a Portuguese newspaper.

This implies that the Red Devils could need to spend up to €80 million (£67 million) to acquire Hjulmund if they decide to pursue him in the upcoming weeks.

Sporting just paid Lecce €18 million (£15 million) for the 25-year-old last summer; it is a significant increase in just one year. Why does United have a desire for Hjulmand?

The futures of Scott McTominay and Casemiro are both in doubt. Saudi Arabia is rumored to be interested in the former, while Fulham is known to be interested in the latter.

Recruiting someone like Hjulmand is, therefore, a top priority for the club before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

What is the situation with Ugarte?
Hjulmand is believed to be one of the alternatives that United are considering if they can’t find a breakthrough in talks with Paris Saint-Germain for Manuel Ugarte.

Personal terms have already been agreed with the Uruguayan international but PSG are demanding €70m (£59m) for the player, which has led to negotiations stalling.

United are hoping that this figure will be lowered as they know Ugarte is not part of the Ligue One club’s first-team plans.

In the meantime, though, they have been exploring alternatives, but it looks like a deal for Hjulmand is also too expensive
