Man United sent shock Amad exit demand after winger ‘strikes transfer agreement’

Manchester United should keep Amad Diallo at Old Trafford this summer, despite striking a transfer agreement for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, according to former striker Louis Saha.

Mbeumo, 25, is said to have approved a move to United, with negotiations ongoing to settle on a transfer fee, after a £45million plus £10m offer arrived from Ruben Amorim’s side earlier this month. Tottenham and Thomas Frank have made a late attempt to sign him, but United are expected to eventually seal a move.

Matheus Cunha has already joined in a £62.5m deal from Wolves and is set to be used as one of Amorim’s attacking midfielders in the 3-4-3 system. Mbeumo, meanwhile, specialises on the other side, meaning that Amad might have to drop down as the right wing back or as a substitute in their first-choice starting XI.

Since news of a move for Mbeumo emerged, speculation has increased that Amad could therefore leave United. However, Saha has urged United to keep hold of the Ivorian as he is one of two players that cannot be sold.

“Nooo! No! No! If there are one or two players who should not leave, it is him and Bruno Fernandes,” Saha told the Daily Express with BetSelect. “He is the kind of player who does not care where he plays. He has said it himself; he will play as a left-back or centre-back – he will just play.”

He continued: “Some other players will say, ‘I want to play there’ or ‘I should be playing [in] this [position]’. Those players should shut up. Why? Because the result that we had last year is ridiculous.

“If you have got 20 goals, you can ask those things, maybe. But none of those players have scored more than 15 goals, and they are asking for things. It is crazy.”

Amorim is set to oversee an attacking overhaul this summer, with Cunha, Mbeumo and a new No.9 coming through the doors, while there are several players that are expected to depart. They include Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho – with all three spending time out on loan last season.
