£52 million acquisition After breaking his metatarsal during last weekend’s preseason game against Arsenal in California, Yoro will likely be out for three months.

Hojlund had to leave the game due to a hamstring injury that would keep him out for six weeks.

After joining from Atalanta, Hojlund was United’s lone recognized center forward in the previous season, scoring 14 goals in his first year.

Brentford star Ivan Toney is named as one option being considered. The England international has just one year left on his contract in west London with the Bees hoping to get a fee of around £50m for the 28-year-old.

United had also hoped to bring in another new centre-half alongside Yoro with Bayern Munich star Matthijs de Ligt or Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite the club’s preferred options.

The club also remain in contact with Bayern over de Ligt who is also keen on the move that would reunite him with former Ajax boss ten Hag.

United’s latest bid for the Netherlands international was £30m, rejected by Bayern who are looking for a fee of £42m.
