Man United release strong one-word message following Arsenal FA Cup heartbreak

Manchester United have declared themselves to be the deserving winners after beating Arsenal 5-3 on penalties in the FA Cup third round on Sunday.

After an uneventful first half, the game kicked into life after the break on 52 minutes when Bruno Fernandes swept home after Alejandro Garnacho broke quickly on the halfway line.

However, the game swung back in the Gunners’ favour on the hour-mark when Diogo Dalot was sent off after a lunging challenge earned him a second yellow card.

Moments later, Mikel Arteta’s side had the ascendency when Gabriel’s deflected effort deceived Altay Bayindir in the visitors’ goal. The momentum of the match was set there on in as Arsenal piled forward and United attempted to defend stoically.

With 20 minutes to go, the Gunners had a brilliant chance to take the lead when Kai Havertz was brought down by Harry Maguire. But, Martin Odegaard’s penalty was expertly tipped wide by Bayindir

Arsenal still had chances to win the game but they found beating the United goalkeeper impossible.

Penalties followed after 30 minutes of extra time frustration as Bayindir made himself the hero by saving Havertz’s spot kick before Joshua Zirkzee dispatched his penalty to win the game.

It was clearly a difficult defeat for Arsenal to take having controlled the ball with 71 per cent possession and having a whopping 26 shots to United’s seven, albeit only seven of the Gunners’ shots were on target.

At the final whistle, the visitors wasted little time celebrating their victory and even their official social media channels got involved

Posting on X, United wrote: “Justice,” followed by no picture explaining their post. It is expected this is in relation to some decisions which the visitors felt went against them including Dalot’s red card and the penalty conceded by Maguire.
